Councillor attacked me, damaged my car, alleges Traffic Ramaswamy
Independent candidate submitted a complaint to the returning officer demanding action
Chennai: Social activist and Independent candidate in R.K.Nagar Assembly constituency, ‘‘Traffic’ Ramaswamy’ submitted a complaint to the returning officer demanding action against a councillor, whose men allegedly attacked him and damaged his car on Saturday. He said, “I was on rounds at the polling booth Nos. 156, 157 and 160 on Chelliamman Koil Street, when AIADMK party people were found canvassing within 100 metres radius from the polling booth. I took a picture of it, following which they damaged my car.”
He also alleged that attempts at bogus voting were witnessed around 4 pm at booth Nos. 174-179. Ramaswamy arrived at the zonal office in the evening to submit the written complaint where a group, according to him, tried to attack him with a knife and remove the party flag from his car.
They later held a road roko alleging that Ramaswamy had parked his car at a wrong place. “I then included the road roko issue also in the complaint and submitted it to the returning officer,” he said.
