Patna: Violent demonstration and stone pelting rocked Nalanda in Bihar on Monday as relatives and supporters of the slain DPS school director came out on roads shouting anti-police slogans.

“Brutal killing of DPS school director in full public view on Sunday is a complete failure of the state police which has a responsibility to wipe out Jungle Raj from Bihar,” a supporter said after post-mortem report of the two school students whose bodies were fished out of a pond located near DPS school in Nalanda revealed that they had died due to drowning.

They said, “This post mortem report in a way gives clean chit to the director who became a victim of few villagers in Nalanda. The most shocking is that this has happened in the home district of the chief minister.”

Angry protesters disrupted road and rail traffic demanding CBI enquiry and action against the police. The director’s daughter alleged that the incident occurred in the presence of the police and it could have been averted had the police intervened.

“My father took the police along with him after he received a call regarding the incident. Instead of controlling the mob, the cops watched the mob beat my father to death. Police is a partner in this heinous murder. I demand CBI enquiry into the incident, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar must act,” DPS school director’s daughter Swarnlata said on Monday.

Later the officer in charge of the Nalanda police station Sunil Kumar Nirjhar was suspended and further investigation has also been initiated into the matter. Sources said, police has been asked to file an FIR on the basis of video footage available with the local media. It may be noted that the video footage clearly shows a person beating up the director with a long bamboo stick, in another video footage few more persons were seen kicking and punching the director.

“I kept calling for help after somebody informed me about attack on my father but no one came to his rescue and he died”, Swarnlata said.

Police headquarters stationed DIG central range in Nalanda to control the deteriorating law and order situation. Bihar Additional Director General of Police Sunil Kumar said “ we will soon take action against those involved, at the moment we are trying to bring normalcy there".
