Congress holds protest against AAP govt over price rise
Maken said that there is nothing in the budget for the common man
New Delhi: Congress on Monday held a protest against the AAP-led Delhi government accusing it of "total failure" in controlling price rise of essential commodities including fruits and vegetables.
The protest, held at Mahipalpur of South Delhi, was led by DPCC chief Ajay Maken who also slammed the AAP government for presenting a "lackluster budget" which he said will cause "inflationary pressures".
"The government has totally failed to control price rise. It had promised to control price rise ahead of the Assembly election, but now we have seen how the prices of essential commodities, fruits and vegetables are going up," Maken said while addressing the protesters.
Maken further said that there is nothing in the budget for the common man, adding that the AAP government has not done anything for welfare of common people.
He said prices of food and other items are set to shoot up in Delhi as goods and food items coming from outside will be taxed. "Price of each item will go up and the Arvind Kejriwal government only is responsible for this," he said.
The DPCC chief also said that the government in its budget has shown 32 percent rise in tax revenue, which he said was only two percent last year.
Terming the AAP government as "inexperienced", Maken asked as to how it will arrange space for constructing depots for 10,000 additional buses as promised, besides increasing the number of new beds in hospitals and setting up new schools.
