Cop injured in firing in Kathua, police rules out terror
Constable Jagdish Singh was injured when unidentified gunmen fired upon him
Jammu: The J&K police on Monday ruled out 'terror attack' after a policeman was injured after being allegedly shot at by unidentified gunmen in Kathua district, while maintaining that an investigation is on.
Constable Jagdish Singh was injured when unidentified gunmen fired upon him at Shahidi Chowk in the district around 9:20 am today.
The injured cop was initially shifted to district hospital in Kathua and later referred to Government Medical College (GMC) hospital at Jammu for specialised treatment, police said.
Additional SP Kathua, Nasir Ahmed said that the incident can not be equated with a terror attack.
"It can be some case related to drugs", he said. The gunmen managed to escape in a car carrying Punjab registration number, police said, adding the vehicle was later recovered from some distance after it stopped suddenly.
Police has registered a case and launched a hunt to nab the culprits, Ahmed added.
