Hyderabad: Reviews by visitors of government-run Haritha tourist resorts often highlight the poor maintenance and lack of amenities. For example, most reviews on travel websites say that the food at the Haritha Hotel at Laknavaram is bad and recommend that visitors should carry snacks.
“The AC wouldn’t switch on until we notified the reception and we were told that there was a shortage of rugs,” said a tourist about the resort at Bhadrachalam.
A senior official of the Telangana State Tourism Development Corporation said, “Although at many of the places the maintenance and catering is outsourced we can't escape the blame. We take feedbacks seriously and changes are made.”
Most of the 34 resorts in Telangana were constructed 10 years ago. However, the official said that they are planning to renovate all major resorts at a cost of Rs 7.5 crore.
The TSTDC will focus on the resorts at Nagarjunasagar, Ramappa, Bhadrachalam, Vikarabad and Nizamabad. “Everything from linen to interiors and ACs will be upgraded,” the official said.Apart from this, to attract more youngsters and kids to their resorts, swimming pools will be built at Warangal, Shamirpet and Jannaram resorts within a few months.
The TSDTDC is also planning to improve amenities at Bhongir to encourage rock climbing and at Anantagiri Hills to encourage eco tourism. The resort at Kadem in Adilabad is almost ready.
