Ravi Shastri to skip Zimbabwe tour, assistant coaches to act guardian
According to sources, Team India Director signed an agreement with Sky for The Ashes
New Delhi: Team director Ravi Shastri will not be travelling with the Indian cricket squad for next month's tour of Zimbabwe owing to prior engagements. "He has prior engagements so he won't be joining us for the Zimbabwe tour. The other three coaches will be there," said BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur here on Monday.
Sanjay Bangar is the assistant coach, Bharat Arun is the bowling coach while R Sridhar looks after the fielding aspect.
According to a report in ESPN cricinfo, Shastri signed the deal with Sky – the official broadcaster of The Ashes – before he was offered the role of directing Team India for the tour of Bangladesh.
This is the second instance of Shastri not being with the team in a series since taking over. He was absent for most part of India’s home series against West Indies and Sri Lanka in 2014 citing personal reasons.
