‘She Shuttles’ launched for women in IT belt
The shuttle is a joint initiative of the SCSC, the police and the government of Telangana
Hyderabad: An exclusive transport system meant for women named ‘She Shuttles’ was launched in the IT corridor on Monday. The shuttles will run everyday from 8 am to 11 pm.
The service is monitored by the Central Control Room at the Cyberabad police commissionerate and a smart phone app with panic mode has been given to all passengers.
The service is free for all women employees of the Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC). The shuttle is a joint initiative of the SCSC, the police and the government of Telangana.
For now, two non-AC buses will run on a pilot basis through the main roads of the IT corridor. The government has promised to add four more AC buses to cover the entire IT corridor and surrounding areas, where several women’s hostels are located.
The officials from SCSC said that with the smart phone app the passengers can see the location of the bus and track its movement.
The bus timings are adjusted to work hours. “One bus covers 8 km in the Inorbit-Mind Space-Cyber Tower route and another covers 12 km in the Hitech City railway station-Shilparamam-Kondapur-Gachibowli-Wipro Junction route,” said SCSC official Bharath Singi Reddy.
The shuttles were purchased with funds given by TSIIC and will be run with funds sponsored by DLF IT Park and Ascendas IT Park. The mobile phone app was developed and deployed by Votary Tech, officials said.
Officials said that there are 80,000 women working in the IT corridor and the shuttle will be useful for them. Around 140 companies have registered with the SCSC. The App can downloaded from reachsafe.co.in/she-shuttle
