Vijayawada: An unmindful act of a man claimed the lives of his sons, daughter, neighbour and himself from electrocution at Urmila Subba Rao Nagar of Bhavanipuram in Vijayawada on Tuesday morning.

Ganta Subba Reddy, 55, a hamali was constructing an  unauthorised penthouse with an asbestos roof on the terrace of his  two-storeyed house for a couple of weeks with the help of his son G. Srinivasa Reddy, 23, and brother’s son G. Nagarjuna Reddy, 25.

Subba Reddy planned to shift the iron rods used to support the roof from the ground to the terrace and took up the job on Tuesday morning, when the rod touched the 11KV overhead power line.
