YSRC to boycott MLC election

OngoleThe YSRC on Tuesday said it was boycotting the July 3 MLC election from the local bodies quota to register its protest against Telugu Desam leaders who allegedly purchased party electors.
 
The YSRC says the TD has “purchased” 35 MPTCs in the district and shifted them to a camp to capture their vote. Party MP Y. V. Subba Reddy said the TD did not have the numbers to win the elections.
 
“They lured YSRC MPTCs and offered money and shifted 35 MPTCs to their camp in Nellore,” he said. To register their protest at this “shame,” the YSRC was boycotting the MLC election in Prakasam district.
 
The YSRC has already already submitted memorandums to Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan, chief electoral officer Bhanwarlal and MLC election returning officer Dr M. Hari Jawaharlal. It said it had got no response. 
 
Party activists staged a dharna in front of the collectorate in Ongole on Tuesday. YSRC district president M. Ashok Reddy said that though cases were booked against the TD leaders who tried to lure MLAs in the MLC election in Telangana, TD leaders had gone ahead ahead and “purchased” YSRC MPTCs in AP.
