Belagavi: In an unprecedented move in the recent past, Congress members in the Legislative Council have given a notice against  Chairman D.H. Shankarmurthy regarding his 'partisan' attitude towards the Congress.

Government Chief Whip in the Council R.V. Venkatesh has given a calling attention notice under rule 72 to discuss the issue of propriety of the chairman. Along with Venkatesh five Congress members have signed  the notice.

According to the Congress members, the chairman  has taken sides wiht his original party (BJP). Instead of maintaining the dignity and decorum of the chairman’s post, he has given a statement in favour of his party and criticized the Congress party for imposing Emergency, they said.

"The statement of the Chairman D.H. Shankarmurthy on the eve of the 40th anniversary of imposition of the Emergency is disrespect to the post of chairman. The chairman had remarked that the Emergency days may recur as the Congress is still continuing with dynastic politics",  claimed the Congress members.
