Creating a Facebook profile is easy and later making a page with that account is completely free. However, scamster, who created a fake website on the name of Delta Airways, managed to get a whopping 69,600 shares and 5,300 likes in just 24 hours.

Buzzfeed reported that some prankster had created a Facebook page in the name of Delta Airways and posted some images on it. He later made up a post speaking about a promotional offer from Delta Airways, stating that the airlines is celebrating 100 million customers and is giving away some goodies in a bag. The goodies consist of 5 free first class tickets to any destination that can be used till 2016, along with USD 5,000 in cash and a few others too.  The post went on to state that the promotion offer is available for only 175 lucky winners and in order to be lucky, one needs to like the page and share the post. Additionally, those who also comment on the post will be applicable for an additional chance to win the bag. Within 24 hours of posting the information, the post went viral with more than 69,000 shares and 5,300 likes.

Buzzfeed stated that a Delta representative confirmed the Facebook Page to be fake and also told them that they contacted Facebook to take down the page immediately. Delta’s official Facebook page is ‘Delta Air Lines’ and not ‘Delta Airways’.

Those who fell for the post should have checked for the authenticity of the page before believing in it. The page had no prior posts on it and also there were grammatical mistakes in it, especially, where the company would never put a small ‘D’ in the name ‘Delta’.
