The celebrities discussed ‘Swachh Bharat’ and ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ campaigns
Mumbai: Thursday morning, the Internet witnessed Coldplay fans in India having a meltdown after news of the secret impromptu gig broke. The multi-Grammy award wining band’s lead singer Chris Martin was in Delhi last evening, enjoying dinner with Freida Pinto, folk-rock musicians Raghu Dixit, VishalDadlani and the crew from All India Bakchod before they decided to go to a local pub and perform live.
The singer and Freida also met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss ‘Swachh Bharat’ and ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ campaigns.
The international celebrities are travelling in India with The Global Poverty Project, a nonprofit organization that is working to end 'extreme poverty' by 2030. Martin and Pinto visited slum areas in Delhi, and according to reports also met politicians and other NGOs associated with water, sanitation and hygiene.
They met Modi as a follow-up to the Global Citizen Festival which was held in New York last year, where the prime minister had called for a movement to put an end to poverty and improve sanitation.
The singer also met up with Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and had a brief discussion on sanitation projects in the country.
