Police arrest Hema Malini’s driver after fatal crash in Rajasthan
A four-year-old was killed in the accident; four others injured
Jaipur: The Rajasthan Police on Friday morning arrested veteran actress Hema Malini's driver after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP's car was involved in a fatal road accident.
The police had earlier filed an FIR against the driver after the accident, which occurred near Jaipur, left a girl child dead and Hema Malini injured.
The actress is currently receiving treatment for head injuries in a city hospital.
The mishap occurred when the actress' Mercedes collided with an Alto car, leaving the four people travelling in the Alto car severely injured.
Hema Malini received injuries in her head, back and legs in the fatal car crash. “Hema ji has injuries above her eyes, in her back and legs. I drove her to hospital in my car. She was in pain. Hema ji herself stepped in the car after the accident. She also walked inside the hospital by herself," said Dr. Shiv Sharma, who drove the BJP MP to the hospital.
"The child who has died was in the Alto, was a resident of Lal Chowk. Hema was in Mercedes. Both of the vehicles collided," said an eyewitness.
"It happened in Dausa. The exact location can only be told by the employees. Now, the MP has been brought here for treatment," added a police officer.
Meanwhile, Dausa MLA Shankar Sharma said that another child injured in the crash has been referred to Jaipur for treatment. "One girl child died in the accident and another child has been referred to Jaipur," Sharma told ANI.
"Actually, the car accident took part in Lal Chowk bypass around Dausa. The family in the other car was injured and was from Lal Chowk. Hema Malini's car was also seriously smashed. Thankfully, the doctor took them to the hospital," he added.
