Free meals in mosques, clothes for every Muslim family

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Thursday showered “Ramzan sops” worth Rs 26 crore on Muslims for the holy month.

Addressing a press conference at his camp office in Begumpet, Mr Rao announced distribution of free clothes worth Rs 500 to each of the 1.95 lakh poor Muslim families in the state besides providing free meals for 1,000 people in every mosque.

He said Rs 9.75 crore would be spent on free clothes and Rs 4 crore on the free meals at Rs 200 per head. Mr Rao also announced a grand Dawat-e-Iftar, at Nizam College Grounds on July 8 for VIPs and the general public.

Ambassadors of countries like Turkey, Iran and Saudi Arabia etc., would also be invited. He said the general administration department, headed by the chief secretary, would throw iftars in Hyder-abad and in the districts, the responsibility for which has been assigned to the collectors.
