A shy guy meets a sassy girl
Badtameez Dil co-stars Pearl V. Puri and Asmita Sood tell us about their first meeting
They’re the lead pair of Star Plus’ newest show Phir Bhi Na Maane… Badtameez Dil and their striking love-hate chemistry in the promotional trailers has already been noticed. Pearl V. Puri and Asmita Sood tell us how they relate to each other and more.
Pearl, Asmita, what was your very first meeting like?
Pearl: Our first meeting was at (producer) Saurabh Tewari’s office. When I was going to meet Asmita, I was already fed up as I had done 35 mock shoots with ‘n’ number of girls from the industry. So I didn’t really bother to get to know her or talk to her the only thing running through my mind was that she should get selected so that we can start shooting for the show as soon as possible.
Asmita: Yeah, there was nothing dramatic about our first meeting. I had just finished another shoot and was on my way to Saurabh sir’s office. So I just wanted to meet them, finish up quickly, and head home. Neither of us really made an effort to talk and bond.
Who broke the ice then?
Pearl: Asmita did, as I am very shy.
Asmita: That’s true. I broke the ice as it’s common courtesy to introduce yourself and talk about basic things.
What were your first impressions of each other and has it changed?
Pearl: My first impression was that she seemed better than the other girls I had met for the show. I did mock shoots with so many girls that I just wanted them to finalise someone and she seemed the best. That impression hasn’t changed as I still feel that she is best out of (all the actresses we met). Even though she is not familiar with the Hindi television industry, she still is so good at her work.
Asmita: My first impression about Pearl was that this guy is extremely shy and no, that impression still hasn’t changed. He is more comfortable with me than before, but he still is extremely shy. He talks more than he did earlier but there are times when I still have to break the ice.
What have been your favourite scenes so far?
Pearl: All the montages we shot for in Pune..
Asmita: My favourite scene is from Episode 10, in which Abeer (Pearl’s character) comes drunk to my house. He is all over me and even my on screen mother is panicking as he is not in his senses. It is a mad, fun scene which will make viewers laugh.
What do you like most about each other?
Pearl: Asmita’s attitude towards life is very positive that’s what I like the most. Her aura, the way she tackles situations, I admire that. She can read people and knows whom to keep a distance from and whom to keep close.
Asmita: Pearl is very hardworking and soft-spoken, and that is what I admire most in him. I also like how he respects everyone, even if it’s a junior crew member or a spot boy. He treats everyone around him with so much respect as he values people. I find it very cute how he talks to his mother every day and greets her with so much love! He keeps her posted about his day, and it’s very sweet.
Okay, what do you dislike about each other?
Pearl: Asmita is extremely possessive about all her belongings. She makes the entire set go nuts if she even loses her umbrella! And this is the smallest example I can give to you.
Asmita: Pearl is so diet conscious that he doesn’t eat proper food. I have to remind him to eat and even after that if he doesn’t eat then I have to force him to do so.
Tell us something about each other that fans wouldn’t know.
Pearl: Asmita hates rains.
Asmita: Pearl can’t eat anything sour! You should see the face he makes when he has something sour by mistake he squeezes up his jaw.
