Chennai: Three persons including two firemen were injured in a fire accident triggered by a LPG blast at a residential complex in old Washermanpet on late Thursday night. Around 12.40 am fire broke out in the house of one of the tenants, Amjid Khan (45) and fire tenders from Tondiarpet and washermanpet rushed to the scene.

Investigations revealed that a short circuit in the refrigerator wiring systems had sparked the fire.“However, the heat generated had made an unused cylinder kept besides the refrigerator expand and it burst.Firemen, Senthil Kumar (36) and Kaviyarasan (22) suffered burn injuries in the process,” K. Kumar, Divisional fire officer (DFO) told DC.

The occupant of the house, Amjid Khan escaped with minor injuries. The firemen were rescued and were moved to the Kilpauk medical college hospital for treatment.
