Kochi: The action council which has been on an indefinite strike demanding appointment of more staff at Kumbalangi Community Health Centre is making baseless statements, said Dominic Presentation MLA.

Addressing a press meet here on Friday, he said that despite the health minister’s assurance in the Assembly that the CHC would be upgraded to women and children specialty hospital, the action council is going on with protest.

“At present, the hospital has enough number of doctors, paramedical staff and functioning 24 hours. During a meeting of stakeholders on June 15, it was decided to allocate funds for procuring an ambulance and an X-ray unit for the hospital. However, the action council is not ready to withdraw from the protest and making baseless statements,” the MLA alleged.

Though it has been agreed to withdraw the stir, the action council has now announced to lay siege the BOT bridge at Thoppumpadi on July 13. The protestors are unnecessarily creating issues to the public, he said.
