Rajahmundry: The police have come up with a novel programme called ‘Catch Them Young’ to identify the educated tribal youth and train them in various skills to help improve their employment opportunities in Rampachodavaram Agency in East Godavari. As the young tribals living especially in interior villages and habitations in the Agency are being lured by the Maoists to join them, the police are finding out the educated youth and improving their skills by training them in various vocations.

At present, as many as 100 tribal youth are being trained at Rampachodavaram in order to help them attend Army recruitment rally and get selected. Some youth who are undergoing traini-ng were selected in physical test in the CRPF recruitment drive and they are being trained to appear for the written test.

The police in association with Integrated Tribal Development Agency are organising job mela every week by inviting MNCs like Reliance, KFC, Flipkart and others to help the tribals get employment. As the police are visiting the agency villages as part of community policing initiative, they noticed that the literacy rate among the youth is very low and this resulted in no jobs to them either in public or in private sector. They are sending daily newspapers to the Agency areas through school teachers and registered medical practitioners for the benefit of the youth to help th-em find out educational and employment opportunities and pursue them.
