Indian Mujahideen chief Yasin Bhatkal calls wife from prison, says will be ‘free’ soon
‘Damascus (capital of Syria) will free me,’ Bhatkal calls from Hyderabad prison
New Delhi: Indian Mujahideen chief Yasin Bhatkal’s phone call to his wife from a prison in Hyderabad has put Intelligence agencies in a tizzy.
In a conversation from the Cherlapally central prison in Hyderabad, Bhatkal spoke to her over a cell phone and said that he would be free from jail with the help of Damascus, as reported in the media.
Damascus is the capital of Syria. By mentioning help from Damascus, Bhatkal could be referring to the Islamic State, which has now gained control over large parts of Syria and Iraq.
Investigation is on to ascertain how he got access to a mobile phone to speak to his wife.
This is the second time Bhatkal has been found talking about his escape plan.
Earlier, when he was lodged in a Delhi jail, he was overheard saying that he would stage a hijack to escape.
The intelligence bureau is still verifying his call. Meanwhile, security has been tightened in and around the prison because of the 5-minute conversation he had with his wife.
Bhatkal, was one of India’s most wanted criminals, before he was arrested. He has been involved in plotting and executing several terror attacks in the country.
