Visakhapatnam: In a tit-for-tat move, the Damodaram Sanjeevaiah National Law University (DSNLU) here, has decided to treat students from Telangana state as non-locals and grant admissions to them in the open category.
Earlier, the Hyderabad-based Nalsar university of law had denied admissions to AP students under home state quota. “Telangana government had issued a GO stating that only TS students will be eligible for admissions in Nalsar under the home state quota. We have decided to allot seats only to AP students under home state quota this year at DSNLU,” said AP HRD minister Ganta Srinivas Rao here on Friday.
While Nalsar has 20 per cent of the total seats allocated to home state, DSNLU has 90 per cent. Though DSNLU had issued admission notification a few days ago treating TS students on par with AP students under the home state quota, a fresh notification has been issued after the first phase of admissions, allocating all home state quota seats to AP students. There are around 132 seats at DSNLU.
