Hyderabad: Rowdy sheeters and repeat offenders will plant hundreds of trees in Cyberabad commissionerate limits as part of Haritha Haaram. They will also take an oath to nurture the saplings till they grow. Police persuaded them to take part in the project as part of the reformation programme.
Cyberabad police commissioner C. V. Anand, who formulated the plan to inculcate a sense of responsibility in them, has asked DCPs to work out a plan to include the offenders in the campaign.
More than 1,000 trees were planted by cops under the leadership of Mr Anand. In Malkajgiri zone alone, as many as 55 offenders are expected to participate in the programme at the Homeopathy College campus at Ramanthapur. “We have also called their family members to come along with them,” said Malkajgiri DCP Rama Rajeswari.
