Kozhikode girl Chaitra 5th time lucky
Chaitra has given her second preference as IPS and would like to pursue it as a career
Kozhikode: Persistence and determination paved the way for Chaitra Teresa John’s success in Civil Services exams as she bagged the 111th rank. Already an officer in Indian Railway Traffic Service, Chaitra pursued her dream of entering civil service or police service and it was in her fifth attempt and third interview that she was able to break the jinx.
“I have written the exam five times and attended interviews three times. The break came in 2012 when I was ranked 550 and got into IRTS. But the wish to be a civil or police service officer pushed me further to write the exam,” said Chaitra, who hails from East Hill here.
“I was not even able to crack the prelims in the 2013 exam. But I tried again last year and I am so excited now. I believe that persistent desire to achieve helped me improve my rank this time. I have always liked to contribute meaningfully to the society and may be this was the reason behind my determination,” says Chaitra, who did her MA in Sociology from Hyderabad Central University.
Chaitra has given her second preference as IPS and would like to pursue it as a career. “I would opt for IAS if available. However, I think I would get IPS considering the rank. I am waiting for more information,” she says.
Chaitra took psychology as her subject for the exams. She is the daughter of Revenue Intelligence Additional director Dr John Joseph and Dr Mary Abraham. Another rank holder from the district is K Razeem, who grabbed the 922nd rank.
