Hyderabad: Yet another change has been made to the counselling schedule for admissions to IITs, NITs and other Central institutions. The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) has extended the time for filling in online choices till 5 pm on Monday. However, for now, there is no other change in the schedule and the first round seat allotment is expected on July 7 itself, as scheduled earlier.
The JoSAA announced on Sunday that students can fill in choices on the portal till 5 pm on July 6. The authorities were compelled to give extension to students as JoSAA servers went offline for most of Saturday leaving students and parents confused.
“The deadline for online filling-in and locking of choices on the JoSAA portal is extended till July 6, 5 pm,” JoSAA announced on Sunday.
Change has been the only constant in the IITs and NITs counselling schedule this year. JoSAA sources said separate counselling for IITs and NITs next year is under consideration due to problems in the first joint counselling this year. The CBSE announcement that a single revised rank list would be released on July 8 has also left parents and students confused. Ranks are expected to change in the revised list and that could make several students think they have put at a disadvantage.
Parents think that if the rank in the revised list is better than in the first rank list (announced on July 1), the first round of seat allocation would be disadvantageous to them.
