Staff says strike last resort

Hyderabad: On Sunday, contract municipal employees under the banner of Telangana State Municipal Employees’ Labour United Association, took out a rally from Sundarayya Vignana Kendram in Baghlingampally to Indira Park to press for their demands.
CITU president T. Venkatesham, AITUC president A. Asuratnam and other leaders warned that contract employees would go on strike if their demands were not met by Monday morning.
The union leaders said they had served the strike notice to the government on June 8 and labour minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy had held discussions on June 20.
They said the municipal administration department had also held talks on June 22 and 23 and sought ten days. Mr Venkatesham said going on strike they had been left with no option but to go on strike.
