HyderabadIt is also being rumoured in official circles that the AP government has in its possession a key letter, purportedly written by the Telangana intelligence wing to the Centre, seeking permission to tap the phones of some big shots. The letter is said to have been written on May 23, a week before the cash-for-vote sting operation by the ACB. When asked, Mr Atchannaidu said, “We have our own evidence to nail the TRS government. What sort of evidence will be known in due course.”

Meanwhile, a delegation of Telangana Telugu leaders met President Pranab Mukherjee on Sunday evening and complained against the Speaker of the Assembly and Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan for “their failure to act on the defections of some of the MLAs who had won on TD tickets and switched loyalties to the TRS later”.

In a memorandum, the TS TD leaders pointed out that five MLAs — T. Srinivas Yadav, T. Krishna Reddy, Ch. Dharma Reddy, M. Kishan Reddy and M. Krishna Rao of the TD — had defected to the TRS in the last one year in violation of the provisions of the Constitution, especially the Tenth Schedule.

“We have brought to the notice of the Governor and the Speaker of the TS Assembly about the MLAs’ disqualification. But till date, both constitutional authorities have not taken any decision in this regard,” stated the memorandum.

Pointing out that Mr T. Srinivas Yadav was even inducted into the state Cabinet, the leaders said his resignation had neither been accepted nor rejected by the Speaker.
