Hyderabad: Telugu Desam leaders on Sunday called on President Pranab Mukherjee and sought his intervention in the mass defection of party MLAs into the TRS and the failure of both the Governor and the Assembly Speaker in taking action.
The delegation of party legislators and leaders, led by Telangana TD president L. Ramana, told the President that the TD had officially lodged a complaint with the Governor and the Speaker seeking the disqualification of the defector MLAs, but there had been no action so far.
They complained that the TRS had made a mockery of democracy with the induction of TD legislator Talasani Srinivasa Yadav into the Cabinet without his resignation from the Assembly being accepted. In their representation, they said: “We earnestly urge Your Excellency to initiate appropriate action so as to uphold the principles of democracy and restore rule of law.”
