Facebook lightens up

Facebook has brought a new lighter option to its 125 million users in India. Facebook Lite will work on entry level Android devices fueled by slower 2G networks. The Android app  takes up just 435 KB of storage compared to  30 MB for  the full version. It includes Facebook’s core experiences like News Feed, status updates, photos, notifications and more, but no bandwidth-gobbling videos.  

The app being rolled out across nations  where some 875 million users have network limitations was helmed by  Facebook Product Manager Vijay Shankar.
