Actress Sriya Reddy, is back in a Kollywood flick to be directed by Priyadarshan. The Thimiru actress is excited to be a part of Priyadarshan’s film in which Prakash Raj plays one of the male leads.
“I have already worked with Prakash Raj, who’s like an acting school. The film, which is produced by AL Vijay, will be a message-oriented sensitive subject that deals with awareness for a cause. We are targeting film festivals with this movie. Santosh Sivan cranks the camera,” she adds.
“They say Priyadarshan can only come up with full-on commerical scripts or comedy films. But this is a one-of-its kind movie. Earlier, we had plans to make it in Malayalam and Tamil, but now I think, we are only doing it in Tamil,” she says.
The svelte actress recounts how her passion for films has seen her play deglamorised roles. “I am being made to wear cotton saris in every other movie, which is really not my cup of tea in real life. My thoroughly deglamorised look in Black came as a surprise to many. I loved that look of mine. I really don’t know if it is coincidence or something. I don’t wear a churidar, leave alone saris, that do not have borders. Even my great grandmother would not go for it. I dress in a glamorous way off screen and am comfortable with shorts,” laughs Sriya.
Will this film too show her in cotton saris? “Oh, I am not sure, but I think it wouldn’t be like what I did for Kanchivaram.” Sriya is already looking at other scripts and says whichever film she chooses to do, she will give her 100 per cent. “There’s no film really that I’ve regretted doing. Even if I appear in the movie for ten minutes, I want to make the audience say ‘wow, that's an actor,” she signs off.
