Vijayawada: The inaugural schedule of Godavari Pushkarams, which is just a week away, has become a source of debate among astrologers who are disagreeing with the time and date.
Even though the state government has announced pushkarams will begin from July 14, Srisailam Devasthanam’s official pundit Butte Veerabhadra will inaugurate the pushkarams on July 7. As per reports, he will offer pujas to Godavari and participate in the holy dip along with his followers in a big way. Noted astrologer M. Krishnamurthi Sastry already announced 10 days back the commencement of pushkarams.
Meanwhile several astrologers Ponnaluri Gargeya, H. V. Subramanya Sharma, Karuparthi Naga Malleswara Rao, Karuparthi Koteswara Rao, G. Pattabhi Subramanya Sastry and Pulipaka Chandrasekhar who follow Druk system demanded the government to take action against official pundits of Srisailam and Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam’s (TTD).
The almanacs of these two spiritual organisations are different to government’s pushkarams muhurtham on July 14. They opined that endowment department’s negligent attitude is reason for the whole confusion. Several noted astrologers and pundits are differing on the Godavari pushkarams schedule. As per ‘Druk’ (visible astrology) formula, which the most preferred system, planet Jupiter will enter Leo (Simha) on July 14 at 6.26 am.
The noted astrologers’ group led by Gargeya said that everyone can see movements of planet Jupiter entering into Leo with a telescope. He asserted that they are ready to prove it scientifically. He wondered how the Srisailam pundit could inaugurate the pushkaralu when already the state government announced it on July 14. Besides, people can witness rare planetary movement beside the moon on July 18 from 7 pm to 8 pm, he informed and added that bad elements would be purged even if people do not participate in pushkarams.
Karuparthi Naga Malleswara Rao, personal astrologer to cine actor Nandamuri Bala Krishna said that only Druk system was approved by late Jawaharlal Nehru and all states are following it without questioning. He said that only a few of the-m follow the old system. Karuparthi Koteswara Rao, personal astrologer to Junior NTR, felt that the government should act to remove the confusion and only one system should be followed approved by government of India.
