Thrissur: Agitating against the government’s delay in implementing the One Rank One Pension (OROP) scheme, the Ex-servicemen League began a week-long protest at Kargil war memorial Ayyanthole on Monday. AAP State Committee member CR Neelakandan inaugurated the strike.

C.R Neelakandan reminded the central government that it should have taken necessary action before ex- servicemen asked for OROP because they deserved it.

The Government should leap into action, said Neelakandan.  The striking ex- servicemen alleged that the Centre was betraying them by giving false promises of OROP scheme since 1973.

Ex MLA A.C. Moitheen, CPI District Secretary KK Valsaraj, MP C. N Jayadevan and District Panchayath President C. Sreekumar will participate in the strike in the coming days.
