Panneerselvam: We have not mentioned of LTTE threat to Mullaiperiyar dam
State has agreed with intelligence bureau assessment only
Chennai: Two days after DMK president M. Karunanidhi alleged that the state government was unnecessarily dragging the name of LTTE over the Mullaiperiyar dam row, state finance minister O. Panneerselvam on Monday clarified that the state has not mentioned or referred that LTTE pose a threat to the dam.
In a statement Panneerselvam said Karunanidhi and a few politicians in the state have been issuing contradictory statements against the state government’s stand suppressing the facts that were submitted by the state government in its affidavits filed before the Supreme Court.
Under the instructions from Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa already three affidavits have been filed in the apex court in connection with Mullaiperiyar, but nowwhere the state has agreed to the intelligence bureau report that LTTE posed threat to the controversial dam.
The state has agreed with intelligence bureau assessment only in regard to the terror outfits like LeT, JeM, Naxals and not LTTE over the dam issue, the statement said chiding Karunanidhi for trying to gain political mileage over the issue. An additional petition will be filed in the apex court that the state does not accept an assessment of the Intelligence Bureau with regard to the LTTE, Panneerselvam said.
