Mangaluru: Rehana Siddibapa, mother of famed terror accused Ahmed alias Yasin Bhatkal believes that police are making out a case of her son’s connections to Islamic terrorists ISIS, as the first step towards preparing the ground to kill him during a fake encounter and a so-called “escape during an ISIS rescue”.

“He’s in a high security prison, where every call is monitored, how could he have possibly made such a call,” Rehana asked, adding “these are baseless reports. An effort is being made to manufacture a story about my son.”

Speaking to reporters from the family home in Maqdoom colony here, Rehana said that her son, whom she met at Chilapalli jail in Hyderabad recently had told her that investigative agencies including the NIA had failed to prove he had any terror links, and aired his fears that this could lead to his elimination in a staged police encounter.

“He told me that he was not involved in setting off any explosions or in terror activity and was confident the court would release him,” the distraught mother said.

“But my son also told me that the intelligence agencies who declared him as the mastermind behind all the explosions in the country may not allow him to get away free,” she said. “There have been incidents when police killed the accused in fake encounters when they failed to prove the charges,” she said.
