100 grams of gold stolen from ex-lecturer in Vanasthalipuram

Police suspects the involvement of an experienced gang and is checking CCTV tapes in the area

Hyderabad: A gang of burglars on Monday night robbed about 100 grams of gold jewellery from the house of a retired lecturer at the Old Mahar complex at Sahara Estates in Vanasthalipuram.

Police said residents Pagidimatti Gurunadham, 61, a retired government lecturer, and his wife were staying overnight at their daughter’s house NGO’s Colony. They returned home at about 10 am on Tuesday and found the main door lock was broken.

“The doors of the two almirahs in the house were open and gold jewellery weighing around 100 grams was missing,” said Vanasthalipuram inspector Pushpan Kumar. Police suspects the involvement of an experienced gang and is checking CCTV tapes in the area. A Clues team and a dog squad were pressed into service to pick up clues.  Police has registered a case and is investigating.
