New Delhi: In what could add to the woes of the Madhya Pradesh government, the state police has come under a cloud after a post-mortem report on MBBS student Namrata Damor, whose name figured in the Vyapam scam, describing her death as a “homicide” caused by “violent asphyxia”, became public.

The police had closed the case, claiming that it was a case of suicide. Hours after Ujjain SP Manohar Singh Varma said that a review of Damor’s death had been ordered, Ujjain Range IGP V. Madhu Kumar said no such review was ordered and that a case can be reopened only after a court or any other official agency gave a direction.
