Hyderabad: A total of 16 traffic violators, who had not paid the pending challans after receiving legal notices, were awarded imprisonments. The Special Metropolitan Magistrate Courts awarded a one-day imprisonment to five people and two-day imprisonment to 11 persons apart from imposing fines up to Rs 4,900.
The offenders were previously served legal notices from Hyderabad Traffic Police. In the last one-and-a-half months, 33,988 legal notices were served to vehicle owners having large number of pending challans against their vehicles. Most of the people receiving these notices have cleared challans by making payment through the available gateways.
“As a part of special drive, chargesheets are being filed against persons not responding to the served legal notices,” said the traffic police in a statement.
