Chikkamagaluru: A male leopard was found dead under Aldur range of Chikkamagaluru on Wednesday and forest officials suspect that the big cat might have been knocked down by a speeding vehicle.
The carcass of the leopard, aged around five years, was found at Kanchikalladurga of Aldur by local residents, who alerted the forest officials.
The postmortem confirmed that the leopard was run over by a vehicle. The carcass was later burnt in the forest under the supervision of DCF Manik and other officials.
The leopard might have been crossing the road when the vehicle ran over it, forest officials said.
