Visakhapatnam: Veditha Reddy, an engineering graduate from Srikakulam district, is all set to become an IAS officer by bagging AIR-71 in the recently released elite Civil Services results. Selected technically in a second attempt, she gave her first attempt while she was pursuing her engineering.
When asked what her success mantra is, Veditha Reddy, an engineering graduate in electronics and communications said, “There is no substitute for hard work. A civil aspirant has to compete with himself and bring the best out of him.”
She also said that the number of hours one spends studying per day is not particularly important. She quoted her father Reddy Nagabhushan Rao, an IFS officer and her mother Shanthi Kumari, YSRC Srikaku-lam district president as a major pillar of her success.
Explaining her interview process, she said that the board had asked several questions regarding the state bifurcation, land pooling process, agricultural crisis, farmers’ suicides and Naxalism in the state, and yoga which is her recreational activity. Being an engineer, she also had to answer several questions related to 3G and 4G networks, spectrum auction and anthropology, her optional paper.
Veditha Reddy had campaigned in support of her mother, who contested for the MP seat of Srikakulam during the general elections 2014. Veditha said that this campaign had inspired her to think what she can do to the oppressed sections of the society and to choose the Civils path.
Staying motivated and surrounded by positive and optimistic people is what she suggested to the Civil Services aspirants.
