New Delhi: In a political blow to the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government in Madhya Pradesh, the  Supreme Court on Thursday transferred to the CBI the entire investigation into the Vyapam scam, and all cases relating to the deaths of those connected with it.

It also issued a notice to the state Governor on petitions challenging the quashing of an FIR against him for alleged involvement in the recruitment scam of forest guards.

Union home minister Rajnath Singh met President Pranab Mukherjee, reportedly to discuss what to do about the Governor. The death of yet witness in the Vyapam scam was, meanwhile, reported on Thursday.

The MP police’s Special Task Force, which is investigating the scam, told a court  on Wednesday that Sanjay Singh Yadav, aged around 35, had died due to illness at a private hospital in Bhopal on February 8.
