Shriya Saran, a known name down South, is back with a Bollywood flick Drishyam starring Ajay Devgn — she plays Ajay’s wife in the film. While her tryst in the South Film Industry has worked out well, the same cannot be said about her Hindi films, and Shriya is aware of that. She says, “Yes, my Bollywood choices haven’t worked well for me in the past. But it’s not like all my South films have been blockbusters, I have disasters there too. But God has been kind and I’m still getting good offers. If I get interesting offers in Hindi films, I won’t think twice before accepting, after all Hindi is my mother tongue, I think in that language.”
Speaking about her Drishyam co-stars Tabu and Ajay, Shriya says, “I’ve worked with Tabu before and she’s the sweetest. She’s the kind of person who will get you biryani every day on the sets. Ajay is a no-nonsense person and doesn’t carry any baggage of being a star.”
Talking about her character in the film, Shriya says, “I play a Maharashtrian woman who loves her family. Even the saris I wear had to look old and faded.” It’s quite a departure from her usual glam roles on screen.
