Delhi cop arrested for allegedly raping friend's domestic help
‘Any violence against a woman will not be tolerated’
New Delhi: A police officer has been arrested for allegedly raping his friend's domestic help in Delhi.
The incident happened on Thursday night when Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Jagveer Singh allegedly went to his friend's place in west Delhi and sexually assaulted the woman, 23, under the influence of alcohol.
The woman approached the police yesterday after which she was sent for a medical examination, which confirmed rape, according to police officials.
"We will not wait for a departmental enquiry. He will be dismissed. Any violence against a woman will not be tolerated," Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi said on Saturday.
The accused police officer, posted at Punjabi Bagh police station, was arrested yesterday and produced before a court which remanded him to 14 days' judicial custody.
