Hyderabad: Chatting for hours on mobile application Whatsapp led to the murder of a woman in Hyderabad. The husband of the woman, who gifted her a mobile phone 14 months ago, had warned her to cut down on chatting.
Suspecting that she was speaking to other men, her husband battered her to death. Police said the couple had been married for 14 years and have two children. The husband has been arrested. Rajesh Sharma, 38, hit his wife with a rod after they had a quarrel when he questioned her about an extramarital affair.
Saritha Sharma, 34, died on the spot before any medical aid, police said. The incident occurred at Birban colony in Mangalhat, on Wednesday when their kids were not at home.
“The couple had been quarreling over the issue for many days. The man hit his wife with an iron rod causing a serious head injury which led to the instant death of the woman,” said inspector R. Srinivas.
Rajesh, who works in a textile shop, noticed his wife Saritha talking and chatting on the phone for hours a few days ago. When she did not reveal with whom she was talking, he started questioning her every time she used the phone. But she always ignored his questions.
On Wednesday afternoon, Rajesh again saw her talking on the phone, He asked her again to whom she was talking and tried to snatch her phone. This led to an argument, after which he attacked her.
