Rotarians should help to keep city clean

A new project of free screening for detecting cancer by the club was also unveiled at the function

COIMBATOREAir vice marshal Dr N Vijaykumar (retd) was installed as the president of the Rotary Club of Coimbatore Metropolis while Rotarian Shoury Kutappa took over as the secretary of the club at a ceremony for the Rotary year 2015-16. 
 
The new team of the club should come forward to support infrastructure initiatives like viable garbage disposal to keep the environment clean in the long term, urged Vijay Mohan, chairman of Pricol. 
The flagship project of the Metropolis Rotary Club named, ‘Hope after Fire’ is being carried out in partnership with Ganga Hospital. 
 
Under this project, free treatment is provided to needy patients through reconstructive surgery under the leadership of Dr Raja Sabapathy. So far, 267 surgeries have been carried out. 
 
A new project of free screening for detecting cancer by the club in collaboration with GEM Hospital was also unveiled at the function. Vijay Mohan also announced a donation of Rs 5 lakh to the project ‘Hope after Fire’ and another Rs 2 lakh to the new cancer detection project.
