Vyapam scam: Amit Shah to decide Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s fate
All eyes are on BJP president Amit Shah’s July 13 visit to Madhya Pradesh
New Delhi: All eyes are on BJP president Amit Shah’s July 13 visit to Madhya Pradesh for the “mahasampark abhiyan” review meeting.
As state Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is under pressure to quit over the multi-crore Vyapam scam, speculation is rife that Mr Shah could indicate in his meeting with state leaders whether Mr Chouhan would continue or be replaced.
Mr Chouhan has maintained that the party stands by him and he has no reason to worry. The opposition has been demanding the CM’s resignation and questioning PM Narendra Modi’s “silence” on the issue.

Notwithstanding Mr Chouhan’s claim that he has no reason to worry, the names of senior leaders, including Union ministers Narendra Singh Tomar and Thawar Chand Gehlot, have started doing the rounds as among those likely to replace him.
The name of senior minister Rajendra Shukla, as Mr Chouhan’s likely successor, is also doing rounds.
