Chief Minister should respond to charges: EVKS Elangovan
TNCC president cautioned that about state witnessing Vyapam-like incidents
Chennai: Likening the alleged Rs1 lakh crore scam in the state electricity board to the infamous Vyapam scam, TNCC president, E.V.K.S. Elangovan on Friday demanded that the Chief Minister, J. Jayalalithaa break her silence on the irregularity. Referring to a statement of the DMK president, M. Karunanidhi, on the EB scam and a related case pending before the Madras high court, Elangovan cautioned that there were chances of the state witnessing Vyapam-like incidents and hence Jayalalithaa should come out in the open on the matter.
On a possible DMK-Congress alliance for 2016 Assembly election, Elangovan said "Anything can happen." He was asked if he could categorically rule out an alliance with DMK. "Alliances will be decided only by the party chief Sonia Gandhi, after the election dates are announced. Anything can happen (then)," he told reporters at Sathyamurthy Bhavan.
On Rahul Gandhi's proposed visit to Tamil Nadu on July 23, the TNCC chief said the Congress vice-president would meet members of several farmers associations after leading a massive rally at Tiruchy.
