Chennai: Teams have been formed to trace the miscreant who kept the city police on their toes on Saturday after a hoax bomb threat to Chennai Trade Center in Nandambakkam. Dialing up the ‘108 ambulance service’ on Friday night, a male voice said his brother had planted bombs at a trade expo to be held over the weekend at the Chennai Trade Center and the bombs would explode anytime on Saturday.

The 108 personnel alerted the local police after which police teams and the members of the Bomb Disposal and Defusal Squads swung into action sweeping the entire area. After an ordeal that lasted more than two hours, the call was declared a hoax.

Meanwhile, cops are in possession of the mobile phone number from which the call was made. “The caller had told the 108 personnel that it was his brother who planted the bomb. We are suspecting it to be a case of revenge against his family member or an acquaintance. However, we will be tracing the caller soon,” an officer  said.
