Watch: The heartfelt trailer of ‘Manjhi - The Mountain Man’
‘Mountain Man’ is Ketan Mehta’s fourth bio-pic
Mumbai: Proving his mettle yet again is Nawazuddin Siddiqui in Ketan Mehta’s ‘Manjhi – The Mountain Man’.
The trailer takes you to the journey of a man who loved his wife so much that he gave up the life of peace and tranquillity to win a war with a mountain.
The film is based on real life incidents of Dhashrath Manjhi, who carved a path through a mountain using only a hammer and chisel so that his village could have easier access to medical attention, after his wife Falguni Devi died from lack of medical care in 1959.
With much fanfare the very talented Nawazuddin Siddiqui was signed to play Manjhi. The actor spent months in Manjhi’s native village in Gaya living out Manjhi’s heroic endeavour.
‘Mountain Man’ is Mehta’s fourth bio-pic after ‘Sardar’ based on the life and politics of Sardar Patel with Paresh Rawal in the title role, ‘Mangal Pandey: The Rising’ about the soldier behind the Indian Mutiny of 1857 and ‘Rang Rasiya’ chronicling the life and love of the pioneer of calendar-art Raja Ravi Varma.
