Mahatma Gandhi University calls meeting of off-campus coordinators on July 22
The practical and viva voce exams will be conducted with the support of the coordinators
Thiruvananthapuram: Mahatma Gandhi University has called a meeting of recognised coordinators of the off-campus centres on July 22 to activate the academic process for the students of these campuses.
This follows the state government’s nod to the university to facilitate the continuation of the studies of the enrolled students in their second and third years, following the closing down of the 132 off campus centres under the varsity.
Vice-chancellor Dr Babu Sebastian told Deccan Chronicle that the course materials for the students as well as the mark lists will be distributed through the coordinators.
The practical and viva voce exams will be conducted with the support of the coordinators, Mr Sebastian said.
They will be responsible for continuation of the academic programmes as stipulated by the varsity. Professor Baby Thomas has been put in charge for the execution of the action plan.
The students in the second and third years has been asked to log into the off campus portal from July 23 onwards for remittance of fees. Registration process for the next academic year will commence on August 1onwards for which separate notification will be issued by the university.
The government’s nod will help 12,787 students under the off-campus mode in their second and third years of study to continue their programmes, and also 4,055 students to complete their programmes after appearing for the practical and viva voce.
Mahatma Gandhi University issued orders to close down the off-campus centres in three stages following directions from Governor P. Sathasivan who is the Chancellor of the university, High Court and the state government.
Following this, the university approached the government urging it steps for the continuation of the studies of the students already enrolled with the varsity.
