Lucknow: Barely hours after he lodged a complaint against Samajwadi party president Mulayam Singh Yadav for threatening him, an FIR has been registered against senior IPS officer Amitabh Thakur for an alleged rape by a Ghaziabad-based woman.

The woman claimed that the officer had lured her promising a job and then raped her. She had also accused the officer’s wife Nutan Thakur of being a party in the crime.
The alleged victim had lodged a complaint against the IPS officer about six months ago, but the FIR has been registered now.

Mr Thakur, on Sunday, told reporters that the allegations were baseless and he had already proved it during investigations. “This is a return gift from Mr Mulayam Singh Yadav. I fear for my personal security, but that is a different matter. I will move court for a CBI investigation because I have the audio recording of Mr Mulayam Singh’s conversation with me,” he said.

The woman has alleged that on December 31 she visited Mr Thakur’s residence and was directed to his room by his wife for an “interview”. When she went inside, Thakur raped her. Mr Thakur is posted as IG Civil Defence in Lucknow and is a 1992-batch IPS officer.
