International meet on ‘Vedic Science’ to be held in Nov

TirupatiThe TTD-run Sri Venkateswara Vedic University (SVVU) has set up "Vedic science project" to unearth the scientific aspects in the Vedas, according to SVVU vice chancellor K.E. Devanathan. Addressing a press conference here on Sunday on the occasion of its 9th Formation Day on Sunday, the VC said that the university roped in various government and non-government institutions like DRDO, IITs in Chennai and Kharagpur, Bhakti Vedanta Research Institute and Academy of Sanskrit Research (ASR), Melkote (Karnataka) to study the Vedas to find out the scientific concepts and theories in the ancient texts.
 
In this aspect an international conference on "Vedic Science" will be organised in November this year, he said, adding that an advisory committee will be formed to make it a grand success. "This conference will be a platform for the interaction of Vedic scholars and scientists will focus on some of the modern sciences," he said.
 
The SVVU set up in 2006 has now 26 departments with a total strength of about 400 students including 17 students of Ph D and M. Phil courses, he said. He said that SVVU has taken up digitisation of manuscripts collected from different individual persons in south India.
 
SVVU has taken up the affiliation of the 37 Veda Pathasalas including 30 under the endowments department and seven run by TTD in the two Telugu speaking states. Installation of CC cameras in the sprawling SVVU campus will be taken up soon.
