VijayawadaCity police who launched the smart phone application ‘4th Lion’ on Android have set a benchmark in popularising the app and its services through various means. The app is downloaded more than 10, 000 times and is heading towards 50, 000 mark. However, at the same time, the website of Vijayawada Police has not been updated for months making the access of information regarding police services and other important instructions difficult or sometimes impossible for visitors.

It may be recalled that the website which was normal nearly a year ago had been appended with innovative features like Vijayawada News (Bezawada Kaburlu), One Idea Can Change Vijayawada and others to the home page of the website. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu launched it in October 2014.

The core part of the website provides new facilities like Trace Your Vehicle, Passport Verification status, E Challan status, contacts of police officers, police station addresses and other important information.
While the added features are not being updated, the core part of the site is left with inappropriate interface.

The Vijayawada News portal of the site is designed to look like a full fledged news website with topics like events in city, lifestyle, fashion, politics, sports, business, government, entertainment and others.
In the present scenario, citizens feel that maintaining a website with all necessary information is mandatory and is easily available to the users.

It must be noted that the responsibility of the website was handed over to private software firms which were asked to update it recently. However, the website is lying static since long.
